Commitment to the environment was once again demonstrated by PLN Indonesia Power Services through the Tenau PLTD Unit, which together with PT PLN (Persero) UIW NTT held a clean-up activity entitled ZERO WASTE WARRIORS. The activity, which was carried out in the Oesapa Mangrove Ecotourism area, Kupang, was part of a series of World Environment Day commemorations, as well as a real form of concern for the preservation of the coastal environment.
Involving employees at the PLN IP Services Tenau Unit, this action focused on cleaning the coastal area and mangrove forest from plastic waste which has been a serious threat to the marine and coastal ecosystem. In addition to cleaning the area from waste, this activity also aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment from the work environment to the surrounding community.
The President Director of PLN IP Services, Hari Cahyono, appreciated this activity as part of the company's social and environmental responsibility.
"We believe that sustainability is not only limited to providing energy, but also maintaining the surrounding environment so that it remains sustainable. Through this action, we want to invite all employees to work together to become zero waste warriors," he said.
The Oesapa Mangrove Ecotourism Area was chosen as the location for the activity because it has high ecological value and is an educational destination for the community about the importance of maintaining the mangrove ecosystem. Through the spirit of collaboration between PLN IP Services and PT PLN (Persero) UIW NTT, it is hoped that this activity can trigger a sustainable movement in managing plastic waste and preserving the coastal environment in East Nusa Tenggara.
