The floods that hit North Sumatra have impacted residential areas and the environment around power plants. This situation requires swift action to maintain the reliability of the electricity system that supplies the region's energy needs.
In response, PLN Indonesia Power Services (PLN IP Services) moved swiftly to ensure the safe operation of the power plants while providing humanitarian support to the affected communities and employees.
PLN IP Services President Director Hari Cahyono, along with PLN IP Services Human Resources Director Imam Adi Prihantoro, personally inspected two strategic power plants affected by the floods: the Labuhan Angin and Pangkalan Susu coal-fired power plants. This inspection was conducted to ensure that critical infrastructure continues to function optimally and to ensure a sustained electricity supply to the people of North Sumatra.
During his visit to the Labuhan Angin Power Plant, Hari Cahyono accompanied PLN Indonesia Power President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta. He greeted and encouraged PLN IP Services staff who continue to work under limited conditions, while ensuring that all power plant facilities and equipment are safe and operating smoothly.
The visit then continued to the Pangkalan Susu Power Plant (UBP) in Langkat Regency to ensure the reliability of power generation assets in northern Sumatra. This visit also confirmed the readiness of PLN Indonesia Power and PLN IP Services to maintain the electricity system at these two critical locations.
On this occasion, Hari Cahyono expressed his appreciation to all employees who continued to carry out their duties amidst challenging conditions.
"I express my deepest appreciation to all PLN IP Services employees who continued to work in the field, despite the limitations of the situation. The dedication and resilience of our colleagues are a concrete manifestation of PLN IP Services' commitment to maintaining a reliable electricity supply for the community," said Hari Cahyono.
As a form of concern, PLN IP Services also distributed humanitarian aid to residents and employees affected by the floods. Aid packages, including basic food supplies, and medicines, were distributed to help meet urgent needs in the field. This assistance was the result of donations from PLN IP Services employees and support from the PLN IP Services Board of Directors (DKM) and the PLN IP Services Employee Union. Through this collaboration, the distribution process can be carried out quickly and reach more recipients in need, ensuring that the support provided is truly beneficial during an emergency situation.
Through this rapid and coordinated response, PLN Indonesia Power Services affirms its commitment not only to electricity reliability but also to community care. Amidst the disaster, power plant operations remained maintained, aid continued to be distributed, and PLN IP Services was present to assist residents in recovering and safely resuming their activities.
